Gulf states condemn the Kahramanmaraş attack and extend condolences to Turkey

Khaberni - Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman expressed today, Thursday, their solidarity with Turkey following the shooting incident that targeted a school in the city of Kahramanmaraş, which resulted in casualties including students.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry offered its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the government and people of Turkey, wishing a swift recovery for the injured, and affirming the kingdom's solidarity with Ankara in this tragedy.

For its part, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sympathy with Turkey, denouncing the armed attack which claimed the lives of several innocents, including students, and affirming its support for the Turkish people.

In turn, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the incident, reaffirming its total rejection of all forms of violence and extremism, and emphasizing its firm stance towards protecting security and stability.

The three countries also expressed their condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

The Turkish Interior Minister, Akin Gurlk, announced yesterday, Wednesday, that 9 people were killed in a shooting at an elementary school in southeastern Turkey, including 8 students and a teacher, in an incident that caused widespread shock.

The governor of Kahramanmaraş, Makram Unluwer, explained that a student entered the school carrying a weapon believed to belong to his father and fired randomly inside two classrooms.


On Tuesday, another incident occurred in Şanlıurfa, where 16 people were injured, including students and teachers, during a shooting inside a technical high school.

In this context, the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, expressed his deep sorrow for the victims of the attack, offering condolences to the families of the injured, during a speech in front of the parliamentary group of the Justice and Development Party.

Erdoğan confirmed his commitment to hold all those responsible for the incident accountable, regardless of their positions, and stressed the need to take strict measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.
