Khaberni - Farid Bou Said, the head of the Lebanese Musicians' Union, settled the controversy surrounding the circulated news about Arab singing icon Fairuz's retirement, describing the rumors spread across digital platforms as baseless allegations.
This official clarification reassures millions of fans worldwide, after a wave of concern prevailed in artistic circles following reports claiming the complete absence and seclusion of "Neighbor to the Moon."
Farid Bou Said categorically denied all statements attributed to him regarding Fairuz’s retirement or disappearance, confirming that he has not made any recent statements to this effect.
The head of the union clarified in media statements that the great artist is still at her home living her life normally, emphasizing the falsehood of the information that promoted the idea of final retirement.
Additionally, the head of the Musicians' Union revealed the real reason behind Fairuz's recent rare public appearances, explaining that she is going through a difficult psychological state due to successive losses within her close circle.
Fairuz lost her son Hali Rahbani in January 2026 at the age of 68 after a long illness. Hali was particularly close to her and directly cared for due to his health conditions.
This departure came just a few months after the death of her older son, the musician Ziad Rahbani, which increased the scale of personal grief she is experiencing, especially since she had previously lost her daughter Layal in 1988. Currently, her daughter Reema Rahbani remains the only one beside her now.
