Khaberni - The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply has issued 1253 supply violations from the beginning of this year until yesterday, covering various governorates of the kingdom, with 83% of these violations due to unannounced prices, according to the ministry.
The ministry explained that the violations it recorded were due to breaches of the regulations and instructions issued by the ministry, including non-compliance with the announced price and price increases beyond set limits, in addition to violations related to terms of discounts and offers, according to Al-Ghad.
The violations were distributed as follows: 1043 violations for not announcing the price, 103 violations for price increases beyond the set price, 49 violations for price increases beyond the announced price, and 38 violations concerning terms of discounts and offers.
The ministry noted that the monitoring teams have conducted 1382 inspection rounds involving 25543 visits to commercial establishments in various governorates of the kingdom since the beginning of the year, to ensure compliance with the regulations and standards.
It is noted that the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply has approximately 150 market monitors distributed across various governorates of the kingdom.
The ministry confirmed that the monitoring teams operate according to a specific timeline, ensuring effective 24-hour surveillance in various governorates to verify the availability of goods and their sale at reasonable prices.
The ministry mentioned the daily monitoring of commodity price indices in the local market and the changes occurring in the global markets, confirming its commitment to applying sanctions against violators according to the laws, based on the market-regulating legislations such as the Industry and Trade Law, Consumer Protection and Competition, and rules against price gouging which includes strict clauses to regulate the market, whether by issuing violations and referring them to the courts where there are financial penalties of up to 10,000 Dinars, closures of establishments, and imprisonment terms.
The ministry renewed its assurance that the strategic stock of goods is secure and sufficient for adequate periods, and it is working to enhance the strategic stock of essential goods in cooperation with the private sector, which shows high levels of responsibility and cooperation in supporting the national stockpile, contributing to enhancing food security. The ministry urged citizens to report any violations or any breaches through the hotline (06/5629045), or through the governorates' phones, the ministry's smart applications, the "At Your Service" platform, the website, and its social media pages, enabling immediate response to any market breaches in the local market.
