Shameful and unacceptable Barcelona files a new complaint to UEFA against refereeing

Khaberni - The president of the Spanish club Barcelona, Joan Laporta, confirmed that his club will file a new official complaint to the European Football Association (UEFA) after describing the refereeing performance as shameful following the team's match against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, last Tuesday.

Barcelona said goodbye to the Champions League after losing 2-3 on aggregate, where they lost the home match at Camp Nou 0-2, and their away win at Atletico's stronghold by a score of 2-1 was not enough to qualify for the semi-finals.

Laporta stated in comments highlighted by the Spanish newspaper (Marca) today, Wednesday, "We demand an explanation for why our complaint was rejected, and CEO Rafa Yuste informed me that he will file a new complaint, because what happened yesterday is unacceptable."

After exiting the tournament, Laporta listed a number of refereeing decisions that he considered unfair to his club during the home and away matches.

The president of the Catalan club added "First, I congratulate Atletico Madrid on qualifying, but this does not deny the fact that the performance of the refereeing team and the video technology room was shameful and unacceptable."

Laporta claimed that Barcelona's defender Eric Garcia did not deserve to be sent off in the return match for fouling Atletico’s striker Alexander Sorloth, and that the goal scored by Ferran Torres was not offside.

He pointed out, "Ferran's goal was legitimate, and Dani Olmo was clearly fouled inside the penalty area, and there was an unacceptable and harsh intervention against Fermin Lopez, which caused a lacerated wound in the player’s mouth."

Joan Laporta concluded, "Fermin was in severe pain during the stitching of the wound, meanwhile, Atletico Madrid's goalkeeper did not receive a yellow card, this is unacceptable."
