US Senate Again Refuses to Restrict Trumps Powers in Iran War

Khaberni - The US Senate, dominated by Republicans, today, Wednesday, rejected a new Democratic attempt to stop American strikes on Iran, in a vote that reflects the ongoing division within Washington regarding the management of the war.

The Senate voted to reject a resolution that would have required the administration to withdraw U.S. forces from the conflict unless Congress granted an additional mandate, with a result of 52 votes against 47.

This vote is the fourth of its kind this year, as Democrats seek to regain Congress' role in overseeing military decisions, considering the war illegal and unjustified without legislative authorization.

In contrast, Republicans reaffirm their support for President Donald Trump’s leadership during the confrontation with Iran, citing the risks associated with its nuclear program and the repercussions of any American withdrawal.

Nevertheless, a cautious trend within the Republican party emerges, advocating against leaving war powers open-ended, amid increasing calls to end the conflict.
