Khaberni - Minister of Culture, Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, said, "The Jordanian flag represents a symbol of national sovereignty and a banner of pride and loftiness, and the flag around which we proudly rally, as it is the epitome of the nation's history and glory, and embodies our national unity".
This was stated during a lecture he gave today, Wednesday, at the Al-Hassan Auditorium at the University of Jordan on the occasion of Flag Day, attended by the president of the university, the director of the Directorate of Education, Military Culture, and the head of the University Education Department.
Al-Rawashdeh explained that universities are beacons of scientific enlightenment that contribute to the building of national awareness and reinforcement of identity, and prepare a generation capable of carrying Jordan's humanitarian message based on moderation and openness.
He affirmed Jordan's steadfast stance towards the issues of the nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, and that the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem represents a continuous historical responsibility.
He added that the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, have depicted the finest images of heroism and sacrifice in defense of the nation's causes, which have entrenched the meanings of dignity and pride in the consciousness of Jordanians.
He pointed out that the ministry is working to enhance the national cultural project through programs and initiatives that aim to reinforce national identity, enrich cultural content, and provide a nurturing environment for creativity in various provinces of the kingdom, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, Military Culture, and various universities.
At the end of the lecture, an extensive discussion took place during which the minister responded to the interventions and inquiries of the students.
