Khaberni - Minister of Education, Azmi Mahafza, confirmed that the ministry is proceeding with the implementation of a package of quality projects to improve the quality of education outputs, develop the school environment, and accelerate the digital transformation, in line with the vision to modernize the education sector and enhance its efficiency.

‏During a dialogue seminar held Tuesday evening, organized by "Amman Group for Future Dialogues", with the presence of its president, Bilal Al-Tal, he stated that the ministry is proceeding with its plan aimed at establishing new schools, kindergartens, class additions, and community responsibility schools, within the ministry's plan to get rid of rented buildings and two-session system, indicating a plan to implement more than 500 projects over the next five years.

‏He explained that the education sector is witnessing a comprehensive digital renaissance, as the Siraj platform took the lead in training more than 80,000 teachers, and creating almost a million accounts for students, in parallel with the launch of Ajyal platform, and enhancing the Darsak platform with content exceeding 20,000 educational videos.

‏He mentioned that the ministry is in the process of equipping classrooms in schools with wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) services, starting with 1500 schools, in addition to updating the connection and protection agreements for thousands of educational sites, alongside implementing a pilot study to provide students with "Chromebooks" and measure its impact on academic achievement.

‏‏He pointed out that the ministry's plan for the coming years targets training 60,000 teachers over four years, through qualification programs lasting nine months, at four universities: the University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, Hashemite University, and Mutah University, noting that appointments in the Ministry of Education as of the academic year 2027-2028 will require obtaining a license or professional leave for holders of teachers' diplomas.

‏He affirmed that the updating of educational curricula continues as needed, through the National Center for Curriculum Development, which started its work in 2019, and is responsible for developing academic, vocational, and physical education curricula, in addition to developing a question bank for the general secondary examination.

‏Mahafza referred to the expansion of vocational and technical education, raising BTEC system specializations to 14 specializations, and applying it in 245 schools in the year 2023, reaching 331 schools in the current year, as part of an approach to align education with labor market needs.

‏‏He explained that the first phase of the school transportation project, executed in partnership with the private sector, has begun in the Southern Badia, benefiting 61 public schools, through 115 buses equipped with tracking and monitoring systems, transporting 9089 students and 849 employees, in addition to providing more than 200 job opportunities in its first stage.

‏‏He noted that the government is continuing to complete the legislative framework regulating the sector, after the enactment of the Education, Human Resources Development Act, which aims to unify educational references, improve the quality of outputs, align them with labor market requirements, and establish a National Council for Human Resources Development.
