Al Nahyan UAE Continues to Strengthen Its Strategic Partnership with Jordan

Khaberni  - Deputy President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Office, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said on Wednesday that the UAE continues to strengthen its strategic partnerships with Jordan through quality projects that support development, serving the mutual interests of both countries.

Al Nahyan wrote on the (X) platform, "We continue to boost our strategic partnerships with our brothers in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, through quality projects that support development and drive the economic wheel, bringing benefits to our countries. The railway project reaffirms our belief that investing in infrastructure is an investment in a more stable and prosperous future for the region."

Hassane and Al Nahyan witnessed the signing of agreements to start the actual procedures for implementing the Aqaba port railway project and establishing a joint Jordanian-Emirati company to undertake the construction and operation of the Aqaba port railway project.

The Aqaba port railway project is based on an equal partnership between Jordan represented by the Phosphate and Potash companies, the Government Investments Management Company, and the Social Security Investment Fund; and the UAE represented by "Adad Holding," the sovereign investment platform of the Abu Dhabi government.

The project is considered the largest of its kind in the kingdom for rail transport, with a joint Jordanian-Emirati investment estimated at approximately $2.3 billion. It includes a major package of subsidiary projects in infrastructure that entails railway tracks, tunnels, and bridges, according to the optimal global standards in the railway sector.

The project enhances the economic competitiveness of the port of Aqaba to be a strategic regional gateway for transportation, shipping, and logistics services, and it opens up wide developmental opportunities in the kingdom, especially in the southern governorates and the Jordan Valley areas.
