Khaberni - The Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan has published the results of a new poll, one and a half years after the formation of Dr. Jaafar Hassan's government.

In the most prominent numbers of the study, it appears that:
- More than half of Jordanians (54% of the general sample, 53% of the opinion leaders sample) believe that things in Jordan are moving in a positive direction, compared to 37% of the general sample and 43% of the opinion leaders who believe they are moving in the wrong direction.
- 68% of those who believe that things are moving in the right direction attribute this to the security and stability Jordan enjoys, and 8% attribute it to noticeable improvements in conditions in general.
- 69% of the opinion leaders sample believe that the government was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of its formation, compared to 52% in the poll at the formation, and 62% of the national sample see it that way compared to 54% at the formation.
- 75% of opinion leaders believe that Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan is capable of handling the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of forming his government, compared to 55% in the formation poll, and 64% of the national sample believe that compared to 57% in the formation poll.
- 83% of the national sample support the field visits carried out by the Prime Minister since the formation of the government to date.
- 60% of the opinion leaders sample believe that the ministerial team was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of the government's formation compared to 45% in the formation poll, and 56% of the national sample believe that compared to 50% in the formation poll.
- Two-thirds of Jordanians from the national sample and the opinion leaders sample trust the current government. (67% of the opinion leaders sample and 66% from the national sample).
- 90% of the opinion leaders sample and 58% of the national sample follow what the current government has done or is doing since its formation to date.
- Nearly 70% of both the opinion leaders and national samples believe that the government is doing its best to provide citizens with all services.
- More than half of the Jordanians from the national and opinion leaders samples feel that the government listens to citizens' feedback.
- 63% from the national sample see that the government is capable of managing regional files, compared to 52% in the poll a year after the government's formation.
- 58% believe that people in these days can criticize the government without fear, compared to 50% in the poll a year after the government's formation.
- The levels of citizen trust in security institutions have maintained their high level, compared to previous polls, where the trust of citizens in the various security agencies reached 99%.
- Rising or stable trust in certain governmental, legislative, and political institutions. (Trust level in the judiciary 86%, in the House of Representatives 39%, in the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission 64% and in political parties 29%, and in professors of Jordanian universities 76%).
- 33% of citizens believe that the condition of their families will be better than it currently is in the next twelve months, compared to 31% who answered the opposite, and 31% reported that it will remain the same.
- 10% of Jordanians see that their economic situation today is better than it was 12 months ago, while 38% see that their economic situation has not changed.
- 59% of Jordanians have heard of the school transportation initiative for students in the southern regions launched by the government on 17/3/2026, and it will be implemented in August 2026, while 34% of Jordanians have not heard of it, and 66% believe that this project will contribute very significantly to reducing the phenomenon of school dropout.
- 81% of Jordanians believe that providing modern and monitored buses will encourage parents to send their children (especially females) to distant schools.
- 65% of the national sample believe that the school transportation project should remain free and that the government should bear all its costs, while 29% support the idea of a symbolic contribution from parents to ensure the quality of the project and its continuity, and only 5% believe that the private sector should participate in financing this project.
- 54% of the national sample and 43% of the opinion leaders sample support the proposal to appoint mayors instead of electing them, while this proposal is not supported by 41% of the national sample and 54% of the opinion leaders sample.
- 55% of respondents from the national sample and 43% of the opinion leaders sample support the proposal to maintain provincial councils (decentralization), while this proposal is not supported by 34% of the national sample and 53% of the opinion leaders sample.
- 39.8% of respondents from the national sample confirmed that they will definitely participate in the upcoming elections of municipal and provincial councils, while 35.7% will not participate in them.
- 83% of the national sample expressed "high or moderate satisfaction" with Jordan's stance on the Israeli-American-Iranian war.
- 69.8% of Jordanians see that the economic impact of the Israeli-American-Iranian war on Jordan is mainly the high cost of living, rising energy prices, and the halt of tourism.
- More than 63% of the national sample expressed satisfaction to a large or moderate degree with the measures taken by the government to relieve citizens due to the crisis the region is experiencing as a result of the Iranian-Israeli-American war,
- 72.5% of opinion leaders see that Jordan's role in enhancing regional diplomacy is a very important role.
- The opinion leaders sample sees that King Abdullah II's tour to the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia had a significant positive impact on improving Jordanian relations with these countries, with 86.5% of respondents affirming this.
- 60.7% of the opinion leaders sample has high confidence in Jordan's ability to face regional challenges.
- More than 90% trust the government's efforts to enhance internal security and stability.
- More than 69.4% of the opinion leaders sample see that the government's decisions in rationing consumption to face current economic challenges are effective.
Summary of Key Results
What direction are things moving? - National Sample
More than half of Jordanians (54%) believe that things in Jordan are moving in the positive direction, compared to (57%) in the poll marking a year since the government's formation, and compared to (74%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to (47%) who believed so in the 100-day poll, and (55%) in the formation poll of September 2024. Meanwhile, 37% believe that things in Jordan are moving in the wrong direction compared to (35%) in the last year's poll, and 25% in the 200-day poll, and (51%) who believed so in the 100-day poll, compared to (25%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to 40% in the September 2024 formation poll.
While 53% of the opinion leaders sample believe that things in Jordan are moving in the positive direction, 43% believe they are moving in the wrong direction.
The positive view of the direction of things in Jordan is due to several reasons according to Jordanians, primarily security and stability which Jordan enjoys at 68%, and the feeling that there is a noticeable improvement in general conditions at 8%.
The negative view of the direction of things in Jordan is due to several reasons according to Jordanians, most notably poor economic conditions (28.3%), high unemployment rates and lack of job opportunities (12.4%), high cost of living and rising prices (30.6%), and conditions and wars in neighboring countries (12.5%).
Unemployment, poverty, and providing job opportunities for the youth at 34% for the national sample and 24% for the opinion leaders sample top the list of local challenges/problems facing Jordan today, which the government should start addressing immediately from the perspective of Jordanians. This is followed by finding solutions for rising prices and high cost of living at 26% for the national sample and 11% for the opinion leaders sample, then reforming the general economic situation at 8% for national sample and 23% for opinion leaders.
Ability to Handle Responsibilities of the Stage - National Sample
The results show that (62%) of the national sample believes that the government was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of its formation, compared to (61%) in the year poll since the government's formation, and compared to (65%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to (51%) in the 100-day poll (the arithmetic mean of responses as a percentage). And compared to (54%) in the formation poll.
Meanwhile, (64%) reported that the president was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage during the year and a half of his government, compared to (67%) in the year poll on the government's formation, and compared to (71%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to (55%) in the 100-day poll, and compared to (57%) in the formation poll.
And (56%) reported that the ministerial team (excluding the president) was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of the government's formation, compared to (58%) in the year poll on the government's formation, and compared to (60%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to (47%) in the 100-day poll, and (50%) in the formation poll.
Ability to Handle Responsibilities of the Stage - Opinion Leaders Sample
The results show that (69%) of the opinion leaders sample believes that the government was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of its formation (the arithmetic mean of responses as a percentage). Compared to (58%) in the year poll on the government's formation, and compared to (64%) in the 200-day poll, compared to (70%) in the 100-day poll, and compared to (52%) in the formation poll.
While (75%) of the opinion leaders sample reported that the president was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of the government's formation, compared to (67%) in the year poll on the government's formation, and compared to (75%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to (76%) in the 100-day poll, and compared to (55%) in the formation poll.
And (60%) of the opinion leaders sample reported that the ministerial team (excluding the president) was able to handle the responsibilities of the stage after a year and a half of the government's formation, compared to (51%) in the year poll on the government's formation, and compared to (54%) in the 200-day poll, and compared to (55%) in the 100-day poll, and compared to (45%) in the formation poll.
Government: Monitoring and Optimism
More than half of the Jordanians (58%) follow what the current government has done/is doing since its formation to date, while the vast majority of the opinion leaders sample (90%) report that they follow what the government has done/is doing.
More than half of the Jordanians (66%) trust the current government (to a large and moderate-large degree 25%, moderate 41%), while also (67%) of the opinion leaders sample (to a large and moderate-large degree 23%, moderate 44%) trust the current government.
Government and Providing Services to Citizens
Strongly and somewhat agree (26% strongly agree, 44% somewhat) among members of the national sample on the statement "The government does all it can to provide all services to citizens". With a weighted arithmetic average (61%)
As for the opinion leaders sample, strongly and somewhat agree (23% strongly agree, 48% somewhat) on the statement "The government does all it can to provide all services to citizens", with a weighted arithmetic average (60%).
Half of respondents from the national sample (51%) and (52%) from the opinion leaders sample (the arithmetic mean as a percentage) feel that the government listens to citizens' feedback.
Optimism in Managing Regional Files
The results show optimism of 63% of the national sample (compared to 52% in the year poll), and 62% of the opinion leaders (compared to 61% in the year poll) in the current government's ability to manage regional files,
Criticism of Government Policies
The results show an increased percentage of those who believe that "people in these days can criticize the government/authority without fear" to 58% in the year and a half poll, compared to the year poll (50%), while the percentage of those who cannot do so decreased from 45% to 38% in the year and a half poll.
Prime Minister's Field Visits
83% of the national sample supports the field visits made by the Prime Minister since the formation of the government to date, while 9% do not support them, and are unsure (8%).
The results show that the broad support for the Prime Minister's field visits primarily stems from citizens' desire for him to observe the country's state on the ground, which represents the largest percentage at 41.6%. A significant part of the national sample (23.5%) also sees these visits as necessary to maintain direct contact with the people and be aware of their conditions and concerns. There is a consensus that field visits enable the government to closely understand the problems (12.9%) and help it see the reality directly for effective problem-solving (10.3%), in addition to checking on people's conditions and knowing the correct situation (5.8%) as seen by 5.1% that these visits enhance
