The Jordanian flag rises, adorned with the scent of sacrifices made by Jordanians in various fields of work and battles, as these sacrifices provided a motivation for the journey of giving and building, defending the freedom and independence of Jordanians, supporting their national, Arab, and Islamic causes, and the Jordanian flag shines even more on its national day, which falls on the sixteenth of April each year, a day celebrated by all Jordanians as an occasion embodying the meanings of freedom, sovereignty, pride, and dignity.
The Jordanian flag, along with other national symbols, represents the national identity; the Jordanian flag and the history of the state, its values, its national anthem, its official currency, the Black Iris, the Sinai Rosefinch, the Arabian Oryx, and the emblem of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, are all tangible and intangible manifestations of our national identity, as here are the colors and elements of our precious high flag narrating the history of Jordan and its roots that extend beyond the state borders; the seven-pointed star symbolizes the verses of Surah Al-Fatiha, the red represents the Hashemite family, the black represents the Abbasid Caliphate, the white represents the Umayyad Caliphate, and the green represents the Fatimid Caliphate.
The Jordanian flag is a national symbol expressing sovereignty; every Jordanian individual and entity ensures that their flag is kept flying high, symbolizing national unity, bringing together Jordanians of all origins and backgrounds, and the flag is a motivator to evoke the meanings of giving and working, driving a renewed pledge and commitment towards the homeland and contributing to its building; we recall this each morning when the flag is raised, and at every occasion and celebration, especially as it raises the morale of the individual and the community, and enhances the spirit of responsibility among them.
For the Arab Legion, the flag means all that, and it is also like the banner of the illustrious companion Ja'far al-Tayyar, which if the hands carrying it were cut off, the shoulders would bear it, and it is also the motivation for making sacrifices, cherishing one's life in the defense of the nation's dignity and glory. It is the most sacred piece of cloth wrapped around the bodies of martyrs, and raised above the heads of soldiers, in peace and in war, transcending all their units and military formations, and it is a motivator for working in the field, in training and during the work, spurring the men's will to endure and stand firm in combat.
Based on these meanings, Flag Day remains a renewed national occasion, carrying the meanings of dignity and belonging, and emphasizing the importance of preserving national symbols and enhancing their presence in the collective consciousness, as the flag represents the address of dignity and sovereignty, and reflects the journey of a nation striving to continue towards progress and prosperity; a nation we love and defend with soul and blood, deserving our care and our lives for it, it is the spirit and passion, it is the beginning and the information, it is the start and the end; a nation that if we do not protect, we do not deserve to live in.
