A Special Gathering for Pharmacy Graduates Arab Amman University Highlights the Role of Pharmacists in Combating Addiction

Khaberni - In a step that confirms Arab Amman University's commitment to enhancing its partnership with its graduates and following their professional journey, the College of Pharmacy at the university, in cooperation with the Dean's Office of Student Affairs, organized a special meet-up that gathered several college graduates with Dr. Rana Abu Haweij, the Dean of the Pharmacy College, attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Tareef, Dean of Student Affairs, alongside a number of faculties' teaching and administrative members, reflecting a deep sense of belonging and a spirit of sustainable communication.

Dr. Abu Haweij opened the meeting with a speech in which she expressed her great pride in the College of Pharmacy graduates, pointing out that their diverse accomplishments in various fields clearly reflect the impact and academic mission of the college. She affirmed that the graduates are ambassadors of the Arab Amman University and play a vital role in elevating the healthcare sector with their knowledge and experience. She emphasized the importance of enhancing sustainable communication bridges with the graduates, considering them true partners in supporting the college's journey and its development. She also highlighted some of the college's notable achievements and academic accreditations that reflect its commitment to quality and excellence, and mentioned the introduction of a master's program in pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs, as a progressive step aimed at preparing specialized competencies that meet the needs of the pharmaceutical sector and contribute to its development.

In turn, Dr. bin Tareef emphasized the pivotal role played by the Dean's Office of Student Affairs in supporting students and graduates, creating a university environment that stimulates the development of their skills, polishes their personalities, and builds conscious young leaders. He stressed the importance of enhancing continuous communication channels between the university and its graduates, which contributes to supporting their educational and professional journeys and enhances the chances of their development and sustainability.

The meeting featured an open dialogue session characterized by depth and transparency, during which the graduates presented their professional experiences and discussed the major challenges they face in the job market. They also offered a series of developmental suggestions that would elevate the academic programs and enhance their relevance to professional practice requirements. Meanwhile, one of the graduates made a distinctive participation with a presentation titled: "From Dispensing to Healing: The Pharmacist as a Partner in the Recovery Journey from Addiction," delivered by the pharmacist Palestine Abdel Salam Tim, representing the National Center for Mental Health / Addiction Rehabilitation Department, which highlighted the vital role played by the pharmacist in confronting the phenomenon of addiction, as a fundamental pillar in ensuring safe and responsible medication use, and as an active partner in supporting the recovery paths of patients. She emphasized the importance of pharmacists having professional and ethical awareness, which enhances their ability to guide patients to adhere to the treatment plan and provide proper pharmaceutical counseling, to minimize medication misuse or dependence. Ms. Palestina focused on the professional regulations associated with dispensing addiction treatment drugs, stressing the strict adherence to medical instructions and regulatory legislation, ensuring a balance between providing treatment and protecting the community from misuse risks.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abu Haweij expressed her thanks and appreciation to the graduates for their active participation, which reflects the depth of their belonging to the college and the university. She also honored the Palestinian pharmacist, Ms. Abdel Salam Tim, awarding her the Excellence Shield, acknowledging her efforts and her prominent role in awareness-raising to reduce the phenomenon of addiction and support treatment and rehabilitation programs, thereby promoting awareness and contributing to building a healthier society.
