Employee sleeps 5 hours daily at the office and causes her manager a health crisis

Khaberni - In a notable incident that sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms in China, a long nap in the office turned into a public opinion issue, after a young employee decided to protest in her own way against what she described as "an unfair salary".

According to the "South China" website, the woman works at a company in Shangqiu, Henan province, where she chose to take a nap that lasted a full five hours during work hours, a step she considered a direct message to her boss implying: "you get what you pay for".

Poor treatment
The employee, whose identity was not disclosed by the Chinese newspaper, said in a message that spread widely across social platforms that she suffers from poor treatment at work, alongside dissatisfaction with her salary, which prompted her to take this unconventional action. She added that she will not resign, but will continue what she started until her boss "understands" her point of view.

However, matters escalated unexpectedly, after the manager discovered what happened, especially after the employee woke up and deliberately ate a piece of chocolate from his desk.

According to her story, her boss - who suffers from low blood sugar - almost had a health crisis due to not being able to eat the chocolate in time.

The employee said that her boss exploded in anger, accusing her of "almost killing him," and issued her a severe warning along with an explicit threat of dismissal in case the incident recurs.

Wide reactions
The reactions to the story were mostly critical of the employee's behavior, where many users considered her actions unprofessional and unjustifiable, regardless of work conditions. One wrote: "No manager would accept such behavior," while another commented sarcastically: "I never thought I'd sympathize with a manager."

In the midst of the controversy, official media reiterated health recommendations, noting that the "CCTV" channel indicated that the ideal nap should not exceed 30 minutes, warning that sleeping for long periods during the day could increase the risk of heart disease and stroke, as well as fatty liver.

This incident is part of a series of non-traditional labor disputes that have made headlines in China, where a company in Guangdong province previously sparked outrage after imposing strict restrictions on employee bathroom entry times.
