Boiler explosion at an Indian power station results in 10 deaths and 40 injuries

Khaberni - 10 people were killed and 40 others were injured in a horrific explosion that occurred inside a power generation station owned by "Vedanta Limited" in Sakti district, Chhattisgarh state.

The explosion occurred in a boiler tube in Singitarai village during the afternoon of Tuesday, which called for an immediate mobilization of security agencies that rushed to the site to begin complex rescue operations amid fears of people being trapped under the debris.

Ambulance crews transported the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment, while authorities continued efforts to reach workers feared to be trapped inside the facility.

A spokesperson for the station stated that the incident involved employees of the subcontracted company "NGSL", which is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the affected unit, according to the website "ndtv".

The company also confirmed that its current top priority is providing necessary medical support and coordinating efforts with local authorities, while initiating a comprehensive investigation to technically examine the circumstances of the incident.

The incident revealed failures related to safety standards in power units managed by external entities, prompting the relevant bodies to examine the maintenance records of the operating contractor.

Preliminary data suggests that the explosion was not just a minor fault, but represents an instance that requires a precise review of industrial safety protocols in large facilities.

Technical teams are currently making strenuous efforts to determine the exact cause of the boiler tube explosion to ensure that such disasters do not recur in the future, thereby preserving the lives of workers in high-risk industrial environments.
