Atlético Madrid qualifies for the semifinals despite losing to Barcelona

Khaberni - Atlético Madrid secured their qualification to the Champions League semi-finals, having surpassed Barcelona even though they lost the second leg with a score of 2-1.

The match began with an offensive push from Barcelona, where they managed to open the scoring after a precise through pass from Ferran Torres inside the penalty area, reaching Lamine Yamal, who shot it with his left foot through the goalkeeper's legs into the net.

The Catalan team extended their lead with a second goal when Dani Olmo made a through pass inside the penalty area, which Ferran Torres met with a powerful left-footed shot that settled in the far left corner of the net.

On the other hand, Atlético Madrid managed to reduce the deficit after Marcos Llorente sent a grounded cross into the penalty area, which Lookman met with a direct shot into the net.

Atlético nearly equalized after Ruben Le Normand followed a rebound in front of the goal and shot it low towards the middle of the net, but goalkeeper Juan Garcia made a spectacular save.

The match witnessed a controversial moment when referee Clément Turpin decided to use the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to review an intervention by Eric Garcia, amidst calls for a red card.

Nicolas Gonzalez also missed a dangerous opportunity for Atlético, after firing a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, narrowly missing the right post.

From his side, Robert Lewandowski tried to add a third goal for Barcelona with a header inside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Juan Musso easily saved it.

Despite Barcelona's victory in the match, Atlético Madrid succeeded in securing qualification to the semi-final round, benefiting from the aggregate score of the home and away matches.
