American Senator Moves Legislatively to Stop Arms Export to Israel

Khaberni - U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders announced an upcoming legislative move aimed at freezing major arms deals directed at the Israeli occupation army.

Sanders confirmed in his statements that he would push for a Senate vote to prevent the export of bombs, military equipment, and bulldozers estimated at about 500 million dollars, emphasizing that U.S. taxpayers should not contribute to funding the current war machine.

The American Senator described Benjamin Netanyahu's government as representing an extremist stream that leads operations amounting to genocide in Gaza. He pointed out that the continuation of unconditional military support is no longer acceptable in light of crimes committed against civilians, considering that the time has come for a radical review of the security relationship between Washington and Tel Aviv, which drains American resources in destructive conflicts.

These parliamentary movements come at a time when the American political scene is witnessing a sharp division between the Democratic and Republican parties about the feasibility of continuing to arm the occupation.

The bill is expected to spark heated debates inside Congress, where there is increasing popular pressure demanding a halt to Israeli violations and adherence to international laws that prohibit the use of American weapons in war crimes.

In terms of public opinion, recent data from the Pew Research Center revealed a significant shift in Americans' views towards the state of occupation, with the proportion of those with a negative view reaching about 60 percent.

The results also showed that about 59 percent of respondents do not trust Netanyahu's ability to make balanced international decisions, reflecting a significant decline in popular support for Israeli policies within the United States.

Meanwhile, Sanders did not overlook criticizing internal political behavior, where he attacked former President Donald Trump's statements against the Pope following the latter's criticism of the war.

Sanders described Trump's attack as 'disturbed and selfish' behavior, criticizing attempts to employ religious symbols in political conflicts, and stressing the need to respect international voices calling for a halt to military escalation in the region.
