Qatars Emir discusses regional and international developments with Sultan of Oman

Khaberni  - The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed with the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq, the latest developments in regional and international situations, according to a statement from the Qatari Diwan on Tuesday.

The Qatari Diwan stated that the Emir of the State of Qatar received a phone call from the Sultan of Oman, during which they addressed the current conditions amidst the ongoing escalation in the region, particularly concerning developments in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications on the security of international navigation and global energy supplies.

Both sides emphasized the importance of restraint and prioritizing diplomatic solutions, contributing to enhancing security and stability, and ensuring the freedom of navigation and the safety of vital maritime passages.

Israel and the United States commenced a war against Iran on February 28th, which resulted in hundreds of deaths, including the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and security officials. In response, Tehran launched missiles and drones towards Israel, targeting what it described as "American interests" in Arab countries, causing fatalities, injuries, and damage to civilian properties, which the targeted countries have condemned.

It was announced last Wednesday that a ceasefire would be in effect for two weeks as a precursor to negotiations aimed at ending the war and establishing peace in the region. However, the first round of negotiations – hosted by the capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad – stumbled between Tehran and Washington, with anticipation for a new round of negotiations in the coming days.
