Khaberni - The Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamed Hassan called on the United States to reconsider the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, warning of the risks that threaten energy supplies and the global economy.
He pointed out that such measures might limit the movement of commercial ships and goods through this strategic passage, which would have a severe impact not only on energy supplies but also on the supply of main goods, including fertilizers.
He told reporters: "I do not understand the purpose, because the Strait of Hormuz should not be blockaded. This will only exacerbate the situation related to energy supplies around the world and other supplies like fertilizers. The global economy along with agriculture and energy will face even greater problems."
The minister also emphasized that the United States had previously called for international cooperation to maintain the openness of this passage, and he urged Washington to "reconsider any form of blockade" to ensure the free passage of commercial ships.
Hassan added that conflicts between individual countries should not jeopardize global trade. He said: "The war between the United States and Iran or between Iran and Israel is their war, but the world should not become hostage to it."
