Doctor Physical inactivity is more harmful than smoking

Khaberni - Bogdan Lysevich, an internal medicine specialist, points out that walking for half an hour daily, along with three short exercise sessions, each lasting 5 minutes, helps reduce the effects of physical inactivity.
According to him, movement is necessary for cardiovascular health, improving lymphatic drainage, and supporting cognitive health. Sitting for long hours in front of the computer leads to constant strain on the body, which can be very damaging, causing venous congestion, insulin resistance, and weakness of the muscles supporting the spine.

The doctor emphasizes the importance of not forcing oneself to run long distances or suddenly joining gyms, as this often leads to later stopping and feeling frustrated or guilty. He stresses that the key is to start with simple daily steps, such as walking for 30 minutes and making it a regular habit.

He also recommends practicing short exercises three times a day, each lasting five minutes, such as office fitness exercises or climbing stairs. He suggests linking these new habits with existing daily habits, such as getting up from the desk to drink water while performing ten squats. This approach gradually ingrains movement and integrates it into daily life.
