Khaberni - The security forces in Egypt arrested a Pakistani national and his assistant, accused of scamming citizens by selling fake iPhone 17 Pro Max phones for large amounts.
The accused confessed to the investigating authorities that they sold 5 phones in Cairo and Giza for amounts ranging from 30,000 to 85,000 Egyptian pounds.
A person from Al-Salam area in Cairo pleaded for help after being scammed by a person named Mohammed, a Pakistani national residing in Egypt, who sold him a mobile phone, iPhone 17, for 47,000 pounds, misleading him to believe that the product was genuine, only for the complainant to later discover that it was a counterfeit.
This individual stated in his plea: "20 days ago, a person came to my shop selling spare parts for heavy equipment in Al-Salam city in Cairo. He inquired about the way to Ataba to sell his phone because he was facing difficulties and wanted to travel. He had an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and offered it for 60,000 because he had not paid its taxes, and the price was negotiated down to 46,000."
He continued, "After receiving the phone, the box, and the invoice that proved its purchase, he asked the seller for a copy of his passport for possible contact in case any problem arose with the phone, and a photo of him and a video documenting the completion of the sale were taken from the shop’s cameras."
