Khaberni - Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has returned to using Photoshop to modify images published by her office, according to the newspaper "Yediot Ahronot".
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu met with Holocaust survivors selected to light a torch in the ceremony to be held this evening (Monday) at "Yad Vashem" to inaugurate the commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance and Heroism Day.
As in previous cases, the still images of Sara Netanyahu documented by the Government Press Office and published by the Prime Minister's office underwent digital retouching.
The modified still images of Sara Netanyahu were also featured on various platforms of "Prime Minister of Israel" on the network in both Hebrew and English languages.
On the other hand, the video footage sent from the meeting with the Holocaust survivor did not undergo such computer adjustments.
In recent months, the Government Press Office has been conducting internal and legal discussions with the Prime Minister's Office regarding the publication of official photos that have been digitally retouched to enhance Sara Netanyahu's appearance.
Repeatedly, the Prime Minister's Office has published still images photographed by the Government Press Office photographers, which went through significant editing altering Sara Netanyahu's appearance to make her look noticeably younger, according to "Yediot Ahronot".
And in the Government Press Office, they clarified that the photographers do not perform such editing, and that the images are transmitted as they were actually captured.
A statement issued by the press office a few months ago said: "Photographers of the Government Press Office do not use Photoshop or filters," and they added that they are not responsible for publishing or editing. The code of ethics for speakers in the public service requires accuracy and credibility, raising ethical and legal questions about the publication of modified images through official channels. In September last year, the head of the Government Press Office clarified that this situation is unacceptable and that the entire issue is under examination.
Recently, in response to criticisms from photographers of the Government Press Office, the Prime Minister's Office began also crediting Sara Netanyahu herself for photography, along with the official photographer's name. For example, in the images of the Netanyahus during the meeting with the Holocaust survivor, the credit line read: "Still photos: Kobi Gideon, Government Press Office/Sara Netanyahu".
