Khaberni - Footage by Agence France-Presse showed that Israeli forces fired tear gas at Palestinian students who were protesting on Monday in the occupied West Bank, after settlers blocked the road leading to their school.
The Israeli military confirmed to Agence France-Presse that it dispersed an "unusual gathering," but did not specify if its forces had fired tear gas at the children on the first day of school since the war with Iran began.
The incident occurred in the small village of Umm al-Khair in the South Hebron Hills area of the southern West Bank.
Schoolchildren there were scheduled to return to their classrooms on Monday for the first time in more than 40 days, following the suspension of schooling after the outbreak of the Middle East war on February 28.
