Spies for Iran in Israel Hebrew report reveals Missions

Khaberni - The Public Prosecutor's office in Israel today, Monday, presented to the Central Court in Haifa, two indictments against a total of four people accused of spying for Iran.

According to the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth", Avi Gaydrov (22 years old) from Haifa, Denis Kom from Haifa, Sergei Libman from Acre, and Edward Shubtyuk from Tel Aviv are charged with "connection to an Iranian operator, manufacturing explosives on a wide scale, collecting information for the adversary, and preparing to execute attacks," each according to their role.

According to the indictments presented by Attorney Shikma Nehemias from the Haifa District Prosecution, Gaydrov, the main defendant in the case, maintained several months of contact with an external agent who worked for Iran, and carried out numerous security missions for him. This included photographing buildings in the Haifa area, private homes, resident name signs, transferring locations, images, and video clips to the sites he was sent to, recording vehicle license plate numbers, tracking vehicles, and subsequently documenting also the Naval base and the port of Haifa, including in an attempt to locate an American aircraft carrier. Additionally, during the days of combat, he delivered to the Iranian operator immediate reports about alarm sirens, falling shells, and documenting rocket attacks in the Haifa area.

Gaydrov is also accused of, under the direction of the Iranian operator, producing "TATP" type explosive material daily, and documenting the preparation stages for the operator. Altogether, he produced about 10 kg of explosive materials intended for carrying out attacks.

Gaydrov was requested, as reported, to produce these materials to target a public figure (whose identity is not disclosed by the indictment) and also to carry out an explosion in a bus station or another place where people could be harmed. Later, "he offered the Iranian operator to carry out a suicide attack by constructing a primitive explosive device, but the operator rejected the offer."

According to another indictment, Denis Kom assisted Gaydrov in purchasing the equipment and materials necessary for producing explosives, withdrew money received in cryptocurrencies for him, and attempted to establish direct contact with the Iranian operator to carry out tasks in exchange for payment.

Sergei Libman is accused of manufacturing explosives with Gaydrov on several occasions, and also participated with him in testing a primitive explosive device. As for Edward Shubtyuk, he is accused of having received a bag containing a large amount of explosive material and kept it without legal permission.

Gaydrov is charged with "aiding the enemy during war, transferring information to the enemy with the intention of harming state security, communicating with a foreign agent, using a weapon for terrorist purposes, destroying evidence, and possessing ammunition and weapon accessories."

The other three defendants are — each according to their role — charged with "assisting in the manufacturing of explosives," "using a weapon for terrorist purposes," "attempting to communicate with a foreign agent," and "possessing and transferring weapons."

In a related context, Alexander Granovsky (29 years old), residing in Petah Tikva, pleaded guilty to the charges against him in the indictment filed against him in January 2025, which included taking pictures of Benny Gantz's neighborhood and a power station in Tel Aviv. He was convicted of a series of serious security crimes, including communicating with a foreign agent, leaking information to the enemy, and arson. No sentence has yet been issued against him.
