Khaberni - Art lovers and investors have a rare opportunity to own an original work by artist Pablo Picasso for only 100 euros (87 British pounds) through a prominent charity raffle held in France.
According to "The Guardian," the prize is a gouache on paper from 1941 titled Tête de Femme "Head of a Woman," valued at about one million euros.
This raffle is organized as part of the "One Picasso for 100 Euros" initiative, and a limit has been set of 120,000 tickets. If all tickets are sold, the event will generate 12 million euros.
After paying one million euros to the "Opera Gallery" to cover the value of the painting, the remaining proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer's research foundation located in one of the main public hospitals in Paris.
This raffle marks the third time that a work by Picasso has been offered in a charity raffle. Previous raffles in 2013 and 2020 raised more than 10 million euros for cultural projects in Lebanon and water improvement programs in Africa.
Among the previous winners were a fire suppression systems installer from Pennsylvania, who won the work "Man in an Opera Hat" (1914), and an Italian accountant who received the painting "Still Life" (1921) as a birthday gift from her son.
The initiative has received support from prominent figures in the art world, including billionaire art collector David Nahamad. Nahamad, who provided the painting for the 2020 raffle, indicated that the artist himself would likely have supported the idea.
He said, "Picasso was very generous," confirming that the artist wanted his works to reach the general public, not just the "very rich."
The Tête de Femme painting will be displayed at Christie's auction house in Paris starting Monday, with the drawing of the winning ticket to take place at the same location at six o'clock in the evening local time on Tuesday.
