Khaberni - The Parliamentary Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, chaired by MP Dr. Ayman Abu Henieh, approved on Monday a copper mining agreement in the Abu Khashibeh area, after thorough study and scrutiny.
Abu Henieh confirmed that the committee handled the agreement considering its direct impact on an important vital sector and a fundamental tributary to the national economy, pointing out that it focused on assessing economic viability, guarantees, and implementation mechanisms, in addition to the committee's role in oversight and legislation.
He explained that the committee aims to achieve a balance between encouraging investment and protecting national interest, and between utilizing natural resources and ensuring their sustainability, as well as achieving clarity in commitments while maintaining flexibility in agreements.
He mentioned that the committee discussed the terms of the agreement with a spirit of national responsibility, reviewed the opinions of relevant entities, and raised a set of inquiries aimed at ensuring clarity of rights and obligations.
