Chief Justice Calls for Unifying Efforts Behind Hashemite Leadership

Khaberni  - His Eminence the Chief Justice, Sheikh Abdul Hafiz Al-Rabtah, called for unifying national efforts and rallying around the Hashemite leadership, and supporting the initiatives led by His Majesty King Abdullah II in various forums, which enhance the protection of the holy sites and the perseverance of the people in Jerusalem, and handle the challenges with a conscious vision that understands the complexities of the regional and international scenes.

Al-Rabtah, in a press statement on Monday, emphasized that supporting Jerusalem is a religious, legal, and humanitarian duty that does not expire, and that safeguarding its sanctities is a trust upon everyone, stressing that Jordan, both leadership and people, will remain united in defending the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and rejecting any infringement on the rights of the Palestinian people or diminishing the justice of their cause.

He stressed that the treatments Palestinian prisoners are subjected to, which affect their fundamental rights, represent a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, and a dangerous escalation that necessitates a clear international stance to ensure the protection of their rights and the preservation of their human dignity.

He explained that what "Al-Aqsa" is experiencing in terms of escalating violations and attempts to impose a new reality, comes within a context aimed at changing the historical and legal status, and erasing the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem, affirming that the Jordanian stance reflects a consistent vision that is aware of the size of the challenges and deals with them with responsibility and wisdom.

He indicated that His Majesty the King continues his political and diplomatic movements to confront the international community with its legal and moral responsibilities, and the need to stop violations and respect the existing historical and legal situation, noting that protecting the sanctities is a commitment imposed by international conventions.

He noted that the popular masses supporting the stances of His Majesty the King reflect a solid national awareness and a strong unity of rank, which enhances the role of state institutions, primarily the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army and security services, in protecting the security and stability of the nation.

He stated that the Hashemite custodianship of the holy Jerusalem represents a firm covenant and a solid commitment that does not accept compromise or concession, affirming that Jordan continues to perform its historical, religious, and legal role in protecting "Al-Aqsa" and all Islamic and Christian holy sites in the holy city.

He pointed to the Hashemite custodianship, based on a historical legacy and religious and legal legitimacy, as a fundamental pillar in protecting the sanctities, and it is a covenant that does not break to defend "Al-Aqsa" and maintain its sanctity against attempts at Judaization.

Al-Rabtah reviewed the pivotal role of the Chief Justice’s office through its supervision of the Sharia courts in Jerusalem, which contributes to preserving rights and strengthening the resilience of Jerusalemites and consolidating the Arab and Islamic presence, in integration with the efforts of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places in managing the affairs of "Al-Aqsa" and caring for its facilities.
