Khaberni - Apple is currently intensively testing at least four different designs for the frames of its upcoming smart glasses.
Apple bets on its exquisite design taste to stand out from competitors, such as Meta's Ray-Ban Meta glasses, according to what Bloomberg reported in its weekly technology newsletter on Sunday.
Apple is evaluating the designs and plans to launch several versions with multiple colors, similar to its launch of a variety of watches when the Apple Watch was first introduced in 2015, according to a report from "9to5Mac" about Bloomberg.
These glasses are not augmented reality glasses, but are smart wearables equipped with cameras, microphones, and built-in sensors.
These glasses will be able to transfer notifications from the phone, take personal photos and videos, play music, and allow interaction with artificial intelligence features such as an advanced version of the Siri voice assistant and visual intelligence capabilities.
The glasses resemble a mix of the Apple Watch and AirPods in terms of functionality. The glasses will pair with an iPhone to run most of their features, making them a perfect iPhone accessory, more so than the watch itself.
Glasses designs
According to Bloomberg, the four designs of Apple glasses currently under testing include:
- A large rectangular frame reminiscent of Ray-Ban Wayfarers.
- A thinner rectangular design, similar to the glasses worn by Apple CEO Tim Cook.
- Larger oval or round frames.
- A smaller, more stylish oval or round option.
Apple is exploring a range of finishes and colors, including black, navy blue, and light brown. As with the AirPods and Apple Watch, the goal is to create a distinctive design that is easily recognizable.
The front cameras in the glasses are oval-shaped and will be surrounded by light indicators, another design point that will distinguish Apple's product from its competitors, according to Bloomberg.
It is said that Apple's smart glasses project is on the right track to be revealed either later this year or in early 2027, with the actual launch in the spring or summer of 2027.
These glasses will be part of Apple's strategy to launch a series of devices focused on artificial intelligence in the coming years.
