Tahaaboub Inquires About 272 Retirees with High Pensions in Jordan

Khaberni -  MP Dima Tahaboub stated that she addressed a question to Minister of Labor Khaled Al-Bakkar about the accuracy of the circulating figures concerning 272 retirees who are receiving high retirement pensions estimated at tens of millions of dinars annually, emphasizing the necessity of achieving justice in retirement salaries.

Tahaboub added that the first sign of good faith and justice from the government would be to reduce the upper salaries to a ceiling that does not exceed 4 to 5 thousand dinars.

The parliamentary question included a request for clarification about the accuracy of these figures and their proportion out of the total retirees, and the actuarial impact of this group on the sustainability of the social security fund in the medium and long term.

It also asked about the existence of updated actuarial studies that measure the impact of high retirement pensions on the financial balance of the fund, and the policies adopted to control justice among members, especially the gap between the minimum and high salaries.

The question discussed whether the government or the institution is considering setting an upper ceiling for retirement salaries or adjusting how they are calculated, in addition to the expected financial impact if implemented, and how to ensure that it does not place additional burdens on future generations or affect the fund's ability to meet its future obligations.
