The police reported one fatality and six injuries in a shooting incident at a Chick-fil-A outlet in Union County, New Jersey.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office, in a press release issued today, Sunday, stated that investigators do not believe the attack, which occurred around 9 PM local time on Saturday, was random, noting that no suspects have been arrested so far, with reassurances that there is no direct or ongoing threat to the residents.
The statement clarified that the recorded injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, with the injured currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
In televised remarks, a driver from a smart transport company said he heard more than seven gunshots from a close distance as he approached the restaurant's location.
The Homicide Task Force of the Prosecutor's Office in the county, according to the same source, continues to conduct investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible for it.
