Khaberni - The president of the Saudi Boxing Federation, Turki Al-Sheikh, lit up the atmosphere between British boxers Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, who exchanged insults last Saturday, at "Tottenham Hotspur" Stadium.
Tyson Fury marked his return to the boxing ring last Saturday evening with a crushing victory over the Russian-Canadian, Arslanbek Makhmudov, after a 16-month hiatus, in what is the fifth time the 37-year-old Brit has reversed his decision to retire.
As soon as the results were announced, Turki Al-Sheikh told Tyson Fury that he was next, prompting Fury to immediately look towards the VIP stands where Anthony Joshua was watching the match, and called him out for an imminent clash between them, saying: "Let's give the fans what they want.. a British battle."
Initially, Joshua simply looked silently at Fury before responding, "Tyson, you're seeking fame. I've never had a problem stepping into the ring with you. I punched you when we were kids and after seeing you tonight I’ll do it again. I’ll see you in that ring when the time is right. You won’t dictate what I do. When you’re ready let me know your terms and I'll tell you when I'm ready. I'm the boss here, remember that, you work for me."
Joshua indicated that their next match would likely be against each other to avoid any obstacles like injuries or surprising defeats, adding: "I’m not here for fame, but to fight. The contracts will be sent and you are likely to see us in the ring soon. He retired, while I stayed in the ring; it’s up to him. He disappears then comes back then disappears again. I am real and will fight him or the next person. I’m the one involved in the big matches and I'm the one who makes them."
Joshua also touched on his absence from the rings since he was involved in a car accident in Nigeria last December that resulted in the death of two of his close friends, saying: "I had a serious accident and there are real things happening in my life. I'm not avoiding anyone, and once I am 100% fit I will fight. I run the game and I am a very serious and strong fighter, and when I hit Fury I will hurt him."
Fury responded to Joshua saying: "You’re next and you will face a knockout, trust me. Let's give the fight fans what they want and don’t run away from me this time. This fight took 10 years of preparation, let’s dance together."
Turki Al-Sheikh, who was sitting next to Joshua, hinted to the media that he would soon announce "the biggest match in British history."
