US Official Iran Refused to Stop Enrichment and Open the Strait of Hormuz

Khaberni - A senior US official announced on Sunday that Iran refused a request to stop uranium enrichment and dismantle main enrichment facilities.

The official reported that Iran also refused an invitation to stop funding Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, and to fully open the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by "Reuters".

US Vice President, J.D. Vance, said that negotiations in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad concluded early Sunday between the United States and Iran without reaching a peace agreement, after the Iranians refused to accept US conditions to not develop nuclear weapons, asserting he presented "the best possible and final offer" to Iran.

According to "The New York Times" and "Axios", the disputes included Iran's demand to control the Strait of Hormuz and its refusal to give up its stockpile of enriched uranium.

Vance told reporters in Pakistan that US officials are leaving the negotiations with Iran without reaching an agreement, adding that they plan to return to the United States. He added: "We were extremely flexible, and Iran chose not to accept the US conditions".

On his part, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led his country's delegation in the talks with the United States, considered that Washington did not gain Tehran's trust in the negotiations which did not yield an agreement to definitively end the war in the Middle East.

Ghalibaf stated in a statement hours after the end of the talks in Pakistan:"My colleagues in the Iranian delegation... proposed constructive initiatives but ultimately the other party was not able to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation in this round of negotiations".

Furthermore, US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the US Navy will begin enforcing a maritime blockade on the Strait of Hormuz "with immediate effect", by stopping all ships trying to enter or leave the Strait.

Trump wrote in a post on "Truth Social": "From now on, the US Navy will begin the operation to stop all ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz". Trump added: "The closure will start soon. Other countries will participate in this closure".

The US President also revealed that he ordered the US Navy to search for any ship in international waters that paid Iran fees for passing through the Strait of Hormuz to detain them.

Trump wrote: "I have also ordered our navy to search for any ship in international waters that paid Iran (for passage through the Strait of Hormuz) and intercept them. No ship that has paid these illegal fees shall pass safely in international waters".
