Khaberni - Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Sheibani stated that his country sees in Jordan a "strategic partner for Syria," affirming that "the stability of Syria is immunity for Jordan and the prosperity of Jordan is a support for Syria".
Al-Sheibani added, during a joint press conference with his counterpart Ayman Safadi, which was held on the sidelines of the second session of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council on Sunday, that what connects the two countries is more than geography, noting that it depends on coordination between the two countries and the return of relations to their proper course, pointing out that Jordan "was the first to open its doors to the new Syria".
He explained that the numerous agreements signed today will form a strong partnership, indicating that the current session, which is the second for Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council, represents "a real workshop in an unprecedented step".
He stressed that his country's ambition "goes beyond specific files," and that they aim to "turn the Jordanian-Syrian relationship into a model to be emulated," adding that the Jordanian-Syrian rapprochement is an extension of the historical relationship between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
Al-Sheibani pointed to the existence of consultations to benefit from the strategic location of Jordan and Syria, adding that Syria and Jordan are an important gateway and are strategically located.
He noted that Syria's return has opened doors that have been closed for decades, pointing out that "our vision is clear to transform Syria from a battlefield to a thriving investment arena".
He explained that reconstruction is the most important file for Syria and it is a challenge and building the state, noting that "Syria is working to launch the largest conference to support reconstruction in Syria, and the latest war delayed it and the need in Syria is in all sectors and infrastructure and rebuilding capacities and restoring Syria in the correct financial linking".
Al-Sheibani emphasized that Syria needs Jordan and the regional countries in the reconstruction file, at the same time confirming that reconstruction helps in the recovery of Syria.
He added that the reconstruction file needs between 250 to 400 billion dollars.
Al-Sheibani also condemned "the Israeli aggressions on Syria and the brutal aggression on Lebanon".
