Khaberni - A new book reveals that Prince William refused to hold large official ceremonies or a church service on the occasion of his assumption of the title of Prince of Wales in 2022, preferring to celebrate in a quiet and non-traditional manner that differed from previous similar events.
According to royal author Robert Hardman, there were plans under consideration to hold an inauguration ceremony at St David's Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, but Prince William did not express a desire to proceed with them, causing the idea to be halted before reaching the implementation stage.
Instead of formal celebrations, according to the "Daily Mail," William and his wife Catherine chose to make visits to areas in Wales, including Anglesey and Swansea, in a move seen as an expression of a simpler approach and a desire to modernize the traditional image of certain aspects of the royal institution.
This approach contrasts with the investiture of King Charles as Prince of Wales in 1969, which featured grand ceremonies at Caernarfon Castle, watched by large audiences both in Britain and abroad, amid a festive official atmosphere.
In his new book, Hardman points out that the British government had discussed possible details of the ceremony with Welsh political parties at the time, but the proposals did not advance beyond Prince William's team, which preferred not to adopt an extended celebratory nature.
The author quotes one of his team members as saying that William "did not want to hold such ceremonies at all," indicating his inclination to reduce the traditional rituals associated with royal titles.
Relatedly, Catherine, Princess of Wales, displayed a notable presence at events related to Welsh identity, including delivering a video message in Welsh on the occasion of St. David's Day, which was considered a first of its kind for her.
Prince William previously disclosed his attempts to learn the Welsh language using language learning apps, as part of his approach to engage with the local culture in Wales.
The book concludes by highlighting a personal aspect of the prince's life, explaining that he shares with his family an interest in popular television programs, including "The Traitors," which also enjoys followship within royal circles.
