Khaberni - Samsung Electronics is expected to unveil its new foldable smartphones at a London event in July, according to Korea JoongAng Daily citing industry sources.
It is likely that "Samsung" will announce the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 during the "Galaxy Unpacked" event in the British capital, alongside a new wide foldable model tentatively called the "Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide" based on leaked images and designs, according to the newspaper report.
Samsung typically launches its flagship Galaxy S series in the first half of the year, followed by the foldable Z series in the second half.
The most important question about this year's second launch event is whether "Samsung" will introduce a foldable model with a wider screen and a different aspect ratio.
Previous Galaxy Fold models featured an internal display with an aspect ratio of approximately 1.1:1 – nearly square when opened.
The new model, however, is expected to adopt a 4:3 ratio, significantly expanding the screen and providing a user experience closer to that of tablets.
Some analysts see this potential design change as a preemptive step against Apple, which reports indicate is working on developing a foldable phone with a similar aspect ratio of 4:3.
This shift would position "Samsung" to directly compete with "Apple" in the global foldable smartphone market, which the Korean company currently dominates.
"Samsung" accounted for 40% of global foldable phone shipments last year, followed by Chinese company Huawei with 30%, then Motorola with 12%, and Honor with 7%, according to data from technology market analysis firm Counterpoint Research.
But if "Apple" launches a foldable phone this year, "Samsung’s" share might drop to 31% while "Apple" could capture 28%, according to the same estimates.
According to Bloomberg, "Apple" is expected to unveil its first foldable phone during its annual product launch event in September.
