Doctor Forgetfulness Is Not Always Linked to Memory Loss

Khaberni - Dr. Alexander Kalyojin, a lecturer at the College of Medicine at the University of Education, reported that if a person always forgets where they have placed their belongings, it may indicate fatigue, lack of sleep, or chronic stress.
He says: "Physiologically, forgetfulness is most often not linked to a true loss of memory, but to a disruption in the information retention process. Simply, a person places something somewhere but does not have enough time to fully remember it at that moment due to distraction. The most common causes are fatigue, lack of sleep, chronic stress, emotional strain, and multitasking. As a result, attention and working memory are primarily affected, making the person feel later as if they have 'lost' the item."

According to him, this type of forgetfulness is not necessarily a medical condition. Such episodes can even occur in apparently healthy individuals, especially during periods of increased burdens.

He says: "However, if these episodes become more frequent and begin to affect daily life and work, and are accompanied by general absentmindedness, difficulty finding words, loss of concentration, and severe weakness, it is essential to consult a specialist to rule out any neurological or endocrine conditions or nutritional deficiencies. Prevention is simple—getting enough sleep, minimizing excessive exposure to information, avoiding continual multitasking, and developing the habit of 'conscious action' - placing something and mentally noting its location immediately. It is also useful to keep keys, bags, phones, and other important items in precisely defined places."
