Questions about Fadel Shakers Trial in the Abra Events

Khaberni - Sources revealed the truth about freezing the file of Lebanese artist Fadel Shaker due to the political situations experienced by Lebanon due to Israeli attacks on the south and Beirut, and the casualties and injuries that occurred over the past days, in light of an upcoming session scheduled for him in the coming weeks.

The reality of freezing Fadel Shaker's case file
The sources clarified to Lebanese media outlets that Fadel Shaker is located at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in the Yarzeh area of the Baabda district, and his legal file is still ongoing according to the schedules set by the judiciary to consider the accusations against him.

Beirut Criminal Court is scheduled to hear Fadel Shaker’s trial session on April 24th, presided over by Judge Bilal Dannawi, on the charge of attempted murder of Sheikh Halal Hammoud, which included sessions during the past period that revealed the conflicts that arose between the Lebanese artist and Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir in addition to the team of Halal Hammoud in June 2013.

Fadel Shaker will undergo a session before the Military Court on May 26th for the trial in the Abra events that also occurred in 2013, but so far, the fate of that session has not been determined, especially since it is supposed to coincidentally be on the standing day of Arafah before Eid al-Adha, and whether it will be postponed or held on its scheduled date.

Details of Fadel Shaker's latest court session
It should be noted that the last session in Fadel Shaker’s trial was held on March 24th and lasted only minutes, during which the court listened to the testimony of Walid Al-Bilbisi, the companion of the Lebanese artist, without discussing the details.

According to the testimony of Fadel Shaker’s companion, the clashes that erupted between the Lebanese Army and Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir's group were unknown to the Lebanese artist, as he confirmed a dispute between Shaker and Al-Assir prior to it.

He emphasized that Fadel Shaker was moved to a safe place to protect him after the outbreak of those clashes, where he was not present and was transferred thereafter to the Ein El-Hilweh camp after the intensity of the confrontations subsided, and remained there until he decided to surrender himself to the Lebanese Army in early October last year.

The companion of the Lebanese artist pointed out that all weapons possessed by the group accompanying Fadel Shaker were handed over to the Lebanese Army after coordinating with them within a week of the incidents.

The court did not discuss the witness in the details of his narrative, where it was satisfied during the session with listening to the testimony, which caused the session to end quickly.

Refusal to release Fadel Shaker
At the same time, the defense team for artist Fadel Shaker clarified the possibility of submitting a new request for his release after listening to the latest testimony and preparing the legal defense to be presented to the Military Court.

Amata Mubarak, Fadel Shaker’s defense attorney, is considering submitting a bail request despite the rejection of all previous requests submitted during the trial sessions.

The Lebanese judiciary took a stance consistent with the statements of artist Fadel Shaker, who surrendered himself to the security authorities on the evening of Saturday, October 4th last year, expressing his trust in the integrity and justice of the Lebanese judiciary.

It is mentioned that the crisis of artist Fadel Shaker began in 2012 when he announced his retirement from art and joining the group of Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir, which entered into confrontations with the Lebanese Army, before he renounced his actions and withdrew to the Ein El-Hilweh camp, where he remained for more than 10 years.

Fadel Shaker returned to singing achieving great success, especially after collaborating with his son Mohamed Fadel Shaker. He reveals details of being blackmailed by several personalities to get money and his intention to surrender himself to the Lebanese Army and undergo re-trial anew to ultimately close that case.
