Arrest of 92 People at a Palestine Action Support Protest in London

Khaberni - London's metropolitan police arrested 92 participants on Saturday in an event supporting the group "Palestine Action," known for organizing protests against companies working with Israel.

Approximately 500 people staged a sit-in at the famous Trafalgar Square in the British capital, protesting against the classification of the group as a banned organization.

The protesters held signs, some of which read "I am against genocide" and "I support Palestine Action."

About two weeks ago, the London police announced their intent to resume arresting individuals who carry signs supporting "Palestine Action," following weeks of suspended actions after the British Supreme Court ruling declaring the ban on the organization supporting the Palestinian cause as unlawful.

Arrest and Search

During today's protest, police carried the seated demonstrators, arrested them, and transported them to a collection point at one end of the square, where they were searched before being taken to police stations by minibuses.

Jews opposed to Israel participated in the protest, alongside Holocaust survivors and their families.

Meanwhile, another group raised a life-size poster of the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with the phrases "I support genocide, and I oppose Palestine Action" written on it.

The London police stated in a release that their forces arrested 92 people within an hour and fifty minutes from the start of the protest, noting the continuation of the arrests.

The High Court in London had ruled on February 13th, that the British government's decision to ban "Palestine Action" and classify it as a terrorist organization was unlawful.

Palestine Action

The group "Palestine Action" is known for organizing protests that target companies dealing with Israel. In June 2025, the group executed an event at the British "Brize Norton Airbase," during which activists breached the base after cutting the wires, sprayed red paint on military aircraft engines, and raised the Palestinian flag.

Following this incident, the then Home Secretary Yvette Cooper initiated proceedings to ban the group, which was officially banned in July 2025.

Since then, a supporting group has launched support events for "Palestine Action," leading to the arrest of many participants.

In Britain, supporting a banned organization can lead to a prison sentence of up to 14 years.

It is estimated that British police arrested about 3,000 people for participating in activities supporting "Palestine Action" during protests that took place in the country since it was classified as a "terrorist group" last year.

According to police data, the organization "Palestine Action" conducted 385 direct protests condemning the aggression against Palestine and Israeli policies since 2020, but the Supreme Court considered that "very few of these acts could rise to the level of terrorism."
