Khaberni - A new visual analysis conducted by the "New York Times" and ammunition experts has revealed additional evidence indicating that the weapons that targeted a gymnasium, a school, and two residential areas in the Iranian city of Lamerd were American-made PrecisionStrike Missiles, known briefly as PrSM.
The U.S. military had rejected previous investigations by the newspaper and other media outlets, which concluded that PrSM missiles had hit civilian sites in Lamerd on February 28. It denied carrying out any attack on that day, claiming that the projectile seen in video clips more closely resembled an Iranian "cruise" missile known as "Hoveizeh" due to its length.
The strikes resulted in 21 casualties, according to Iranian officials, while the newspaper was able to independently verify the identities of the victims, including at least five children, the youngest of whom was two years old.
