Al-Jaghbeer calls for a flexible and stimulating regulatory environment for recycling projects

Al-Shawabkeh: The first factory of its kind in the region, it will provide 250 job opportunities

Khaberni - Minister of Environment Dr. Ayman Sulaiman confirmed the government's direction towards encouraging and enhancing recycling projects, considering them as a promising economic sector that contributes to the transition towards the circular economy, enhances sustainable growth, and provides new job opportunities in the kingdom.

This came during a field tour of the Minister of Environment at the site of City Minerals Company's plant, organized by the Amman Chamber of Industry, attended by the President of the Chambers of Industry of Jordan and Amman, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment Dr. Omar Arabiyat, and the Director General of the Amman Chamber of Industry Dr. Nael Al-Hassami.

Sulaiman said that the Ministry of Environment is striving to expand the scope of green environmental projects that contribute to creating new job opportunities and enhancing sustainable growth, noting that the ministry is currently working on simplifying its procedures by modifying the environmental classification and licensing system, which contributes to creating a suitable business environment and removing obstacles facing industrialists, thereby achieving a balance between the sustainability of investment projects and environmental protection.

He added that the ministry is working on encouraging and enhancing green production in Jordan and developing it in accordance with global trends in environmental sustainability, in addition to improving the waste collection, transport, and recycling system in cooperation with relevant entities.

On his part, President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbeer, emphasized the industrial sector's role as a fundamental supporter of the national economy, indicating that the industry is the most capable of creating job opportunities for the nation's sons. He called for encouraging recycling investments through creating a flexible and stimulating regulatory environment for projects in this field, clarifying 
that the factory is a wholly Jordanian investment, working on sorting and recycling industrial waste from various specialized factories in metal and engineering industries, as well as plastics, using the latest specialized equipment.

In turn, Chairman of the Board of the City Minerals Company, Engineer Abdullah Al-Shawabkeh explained that City Minerals plant is a wholly Jordanian investment specializing in sorting and recycling industrial metal and plastic waste using the latest equipment, aiming to return them to production lines instead of burying them. The company is also working on establishing a new plant for recycling copper and zinc at a cost of 40 million dinars, which will be the first of its kind in the region and will provide more than 250 job opportunities.
