Khaberni - Hebrew journalistic sources revealed an internal document of Hamas, confirming the movement's rejection of international proposals related to the dismantling of its weapons in exchange for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The Hebrew channel "Kan" reported that a meeting that included representatives from the movement and the General Director of the "Peace Council" under the U.S. administration in Cairo discussed the disarmament file, but the leaked document showed the movement's firm attachment to "the resistance weapons" as a legitimate defense tool as long as the Israeli occupation continues.
According to the report, Hamas conditions any discussion on weapons on the complete end of the occupation, the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, and lifting the blockade, refusing to link humanitarian issues and reconstruction with the security demands of Israel and the international community.
The Movement considered in its document that the international proposals presented are "unrealistic," emphasizing that the fate of the weapons is a Palestinian internal decision and will not be subject to external dictates.
It also demanded the necessity of maintaining the existing security and police forces in the sector to prevent a power vacuum during the reconstruction phase.
On the other hand, an Israeli security source reported that the army is preparing field plans to return to fighting soon to complete its tasks if no progress is made in the file on dismantling the weapons of Hamas.
