Coinciding with the Celebration of Holy Saturday Israel Turns Jerusalem into a Military Barracks

Khaberni -   The Israeli occupation forces, on Saturday, turned the city of Jerusalem, especially the area around Damascus Gate and neighborhoods of the Old City into a military barracks, and deployed several barricades coinciding with the celebration of Holy Saturday, or "Holy Fire", at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in occupied Jerusalem.

Palestinian sources reported that the occupation forces set up military barricades on the roads leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City, and hindered the access of worshippers to the church for the celebration of "Holy Fire", examined the identities of a number of youth, and denied them entry.

The Israeli occupation forces imposed stringent military measures on the barricades surrounding occupied Jerusalem.

The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, had called on Friday, for Palestinian Christians to participate in the commemorations of "Holy Fire" at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in occupied Jerusalem.

The occupation forces had closed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for 40 days, and prevented prayer there, under the pretext of the Israeli-American war on Iran.

The Christian churches, which follow the Eastern calendar, celebrate "Holy Fire", which precedes Easter Sunday (the Glorious Feast of the Resurrection).
