Where is Rubio in the Iran negotiations

Khaberni - U.S. Army officer Daniel Davis questioned the absence of Secretary of State Marco Rubio from the negotiation table with Iran in Islamabad.
Davis wrote on the "X" platform: "Am I the only one wondering why the so-called top diplomat of America, the Secretary of State, is never involved in diplomatic negotiations on behalf of our country?"

He added: "Why doesn’t Secretary of State Rubio attend any of these negotiations, let alone lead them? Really, what is the point of having a Secretary of State, or a Foreign Department, if all negotiations are primarily conducted by businessmen close to the president?"

The expert mentioned that, for some reason, the important negotiations from the American side are conducted by anyone except Rubio.
Negotiations between American and Iranian delegations are expected to be held in Islamabad today, Saturday, mediated by Pakistan, which hopes to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.

The Iranian delegation will be represented by the Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi, the Governor of the Central Bank Abdolnaser Hemmati, and the Secretary of the Defense Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian, reflecting an unprecedented political, security, and economic weight of the delegation.

The U.S. delegation will be led by Vice President J.D. Vance and will also include the American Presidential Envoy Steve Whitcov, and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

According to Pakistani sources, the Iranian officials arrived at Noor Khan Air Base under the protection of the Pakistani Air Force, an indication of the sensitivity and importance of the talks, aimed at exploring ways to end the conflict and reach a long-term agreement.

Iranian media confirmed that the start of the talks with Washington remains contingent on the acceptance of the "preconditions" set by Tehran, notably the lifting of sanctions and the cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, within the framework of a comprehensive settlement.

This round follows an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump of reaching a temporary two-week ceasefire with Iran

The discussions will focus on consolidating the ceasefire, permanently reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and discussing the terms of a proposed 10-point Iranian agreement, at a time when Trump has hinted at the use of military force if diplomatic efforts fail.
