Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi discussed today with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kalas, the efforts being made to achieve an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon and end the serious escalation the region is experiencing.
Safadi and Kalas also discussed in a telephone call coordinating efforts to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to Lebanon to help the Lebanese government meet the needs of more than a million displaced people who have been driven from their homes and towns.
Safadi emphasized the necessity of immediately stopping the Israeli aggression and supporting the Lebanese government in its efforts to assert its sovereignty over all its territories and ensuring that arms are held only by the state.
Safadi and Kalas also discussed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, where Safadi stressed the importance of the agreement leading to a comprehensive solution that addresses all the causes of tension over the past years, and ensures respect for international law, sovereignty of states, and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982.
Safadi and Kalas confirmed the continuation of coordination in efforts to end regional escalation and reinforce security and stability.
