Khaberni - American journalist Megyn Kelly caused wide uproar with her recent statements concerning the relationship between President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asserting that Trump lacks the ability to confront the Israeli official or reject his requests. Kelly described Netanyahu as "deceptive", sharply criticizing the management of foreign policy files and the alliance with Israel.
During an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, Kelly questioned the implications of President Trump's presence in the operation room during a meeting that included Prime Minister Netanyahu. She considered the arrangement of the session to raise questions, as Netanyahu seemed, according to her description, to be in a position of "parity" in the meeting, noting that Trump did not sit at the head of the table, but beside it, while Netanyahu faced him.
Kelly continued her attack, indignantly questioning why Trump complied with this arrangement, stating, "What forced him to sit there and swallow this man's lies completely without debate?" She confirmed that any other president would have had the capacity to expose Netanyahu's tricks and "deception".
Kelly revealed the behind-the-scenes details after the meeting, noting that top USA administration officials, from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the Secretary of State and Vice President, rushed to inform Trump the next day that everything discussed in the session was "just lies", issuing him a stern warning: "Do not believe him".
Megyn Kelly went on to "debunk" the strategic results of those meetings, describing the goals that were advertised about Iran as "chaotic and unrealistic". Kelly mocked the claims alleging a "regime change" in Tehran, describing them as "empty illusions" that find no resonance in reality.
Kelly explained that the structure of the Iranian regime had not shifted, stating that the changes were merely "a swapping of faces", emphasizing that betting on the presence of "more moderate" parties is a losing bet. She warned that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard emerged from these crises more assertive and stringent.
Kelly continued her critique by referencing changes in the Iranian dossier, pointing out that the "fatwa" prohibiting nuclear weapon development had in fact "vanished", while Tehran has grown stronger economically and now fully controls the Strait of Hormuz, and is now demanding the lifting of sanctions from a position of strength.
Kelly concluded her criticisms describing Trump's "ten-point plan" as merely a desperate attempt to "save face". She clarified that his stance shifted drastically from outright rejection to acceptance of implementation within a short period, considering this reversal came after previous threats she described as "madness", which had threatened to "erase an entire civilization", only to end with "unexpected concessions".
Megyn Kelly's statements unleashed a wave of controversy on social media platforms, where followers' opinions were split between those supporting her "bold dissection of foreign policy" and those opposing her "harsh tone towards the allies".
Trump: "They are stupid" and the American president did not delay in responding, launching a counterattack on a group of prominent journalists who criticized his policy towards Iran.
The Republican billionaire stated, "I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones (...) think it’s great for Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, to possess nuclear weapons. Because they have something in common: they have low IQs. They are stupid."
It should be noted that these four influential conservative commentators have publicly opposed the war on Iran, viewing it as a deviation from Donald Trump's "America First" isolationist promise.
They accused him, to various degrees, of succumbing to Israeli pressure to wage this conflict.
An opinion poll conducted by YouGov for The Economist magazine in recent days indicates that 22% of Trump's voters in 2024 oppose the war on Iran, compared to 71% who support it.
Trump added that all four "were fired from television, lost their shows, and are not even hosted on shows anymore because no one cares about them, they are crazy and troublemakers."
It is worth mentioning that a recent opinion poll conducted by the Pew Research Center in the United States showed that Americans' view of Israel has become more negative amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
According to the results published on April 7, 60% of American adults have a non-positive view of Israel, compared to 53% last year, while only 37% expressed a positive view.
This shift marks a decline of about 20 points since 2022 when the majority viewed Israel positively, while negative views at that time did not exceed 42%.
