Khaberni - The Syrian Sports Minister, Mohammed Sameh Hamad, announced on Thursday his resignation from his position for health reasons.
Details of the Resignation
Hamad wrote on his Facebook account: “Today, I submit my resignation from my position as Minister of Sports and Youth due to the health situation, I extend all thanks to His Excellency the President of the Republic for the confidence granted, and I also thank my fellow ministers and the entire government team.”
He added: “It is my duty to swear by the Great Allah that I have worked with all sincerity and did not exploit my position for personal gain, thank you all.”
A Distinguished Career
It is noted that Hamad, aged 51, began his sports career as a basketball player, before moving to administrative roles, holding several positions, including the presidency of the General Sports Federation in 2024, followed by his appointment as Minister of Sports in March 2025.
