Jordan condemns the Israeli governments approval of building 34 new settlements in the West Bank

Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs condemned the Israeli government's approval of establishing 34 new settlements in the occupied West Bank; considering it a blatant violation of international law, and undermining the two-state solution and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent and sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with its capital in occupied Jerusalem.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reiterated the kingdom's absolute rejection and strong condemnation of any Israeli attempts to impose control over the occupied West Bank, in breach of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, especially resolution 2334 which condemns all Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, nature, and status of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, in addition to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice which confirmed the illegality of the settlement building and annexation procedures of the West Bank territories.
‏Al-Majali renewed his assertion that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, and that all Israeli actions in the West Bank are illegitimate and illegal.
Al-Majali called on the international community to take up its legal and moral responsibilities, and to oblige Israel to stop its illegitimate expansion activities in the occupied West Bank and to meet the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national territory.
