Khaberni - Today, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saieb Khreisat met the dean and members of the general syndicate of mill owners and Jordanian olive producers to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and develop the sector.
Khreisat emphasized during the meeting the importance of the olive sector as a fundamental pillar in the agricultural sector, expressing the ministry's commitment to supporting this vital sector and enhancing its competitiveness both locally and internationally. He noted that this year's olive season will be promising in terms of production and quality, in light of the distinctive rainy season.
He referred to the measures adopted by the ministry regarding the regulation of olive oil imports, ensuring the coverage of local market needs without affecting the national product, maintaining price stability, and providing it at reasonable prices for citizens, while allowing exports to maintain traditional markets and enhance the presence of Jordanian products in them.
He touched on the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture in combating the adulteration of olive oil, in cooperation with various partner entities, through intensifying supervision and laboratory testing, to maintain product quality and enhance consumer confidence.
For their part, the dean and members of the syndicate appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture in supporting and developing the sector, and responding to the demands of its workers, affirming the importance of continuing partnership and coordination in overcoming challenges and enhancing the sustainability of this vital sector.
