Hotel Employee Detained in Lebanon for Spying for Israel

Khaberni - Preliminary investigations conducted by the Army Intelligence Directorate revealed internal cooperation threads that directly contributed to targeting Mohammed Korani, one of the party's cadres, at the Comfort Hotel in Hazmieh at the beginning of last March by the Israeli enemy, who failed in this operation due to the “intelligence sense” of the target, only to succeed the second time after repeating the operation when Korani was targeted in an apartment in the New Mar Taqla area in Hazmieh twenty days after the first attempt.

After analyzing communication data and monitoring it after the first failed attempt, the Intelligence Directorate was able to identify the owner of a mobile phone number who made a call to the hotel where Korani was staying with his family. He deceived the receptionist, E.S., claiming that his mother had stayed at the hotel and lost a gold necklace in a room he no longer remembered the number of, suggesting that the room number might be between 101 and 102 and 103, asking the receptionist to search for the necklace in the three rooms and to record video clips of those rooms.

The receptionist did not hesitate to go to those rooms and film what was requested by the caller, sending video clips none of which exceeded four seconds.

The employee moving between the rooms caused a commotion that caught Korani's attention, who quickly left the hotel with his family at night, escaping from his first assassination attempt. However, the enemy's investment in the information obtained through the analysis of the video clips contributed to the success of their second assassination attempt by a missile targeting the apartment he had moved to in New Mar Taqla in Hazmieh.

With the caller's identity at the Comfort Hotel now identified, E.D. was detained in the Kesrouan area in Jounieh where he confessed to dealing with the Israeli enemy for some time by providing his operator, who was communicating with him from a Danish phone number, with prepaid mobile phone lines, 30 of which were found in his house, and he had used a similar number of them in his communications with his operator who was sending him cellular lines to be used in enemy operations against specific targets.

These details indicate that some of the enemy's military operations rely not only on technological superiority but also on precise field information provided through local espionage networks.

The detainee was referred to the government's commissioner at the military court, judge Claude Ghanem, who charged him with criminal articles that lead to capital punishment, according to articles 549 and 549 juxtaposed with article 201 and article 278 of the Penal Code.
And Ghanem referred the detainee to the first military investigative judge, Ghada Bou Alwan, who has set today, Thursday, as a session to interrogate him on the crimes attributed to him. Show less
