The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Dhief Allah Al-Farajat, stated that Jordanian airspace maintained continuous operation and did not experience any closures since the onset of the recent events, affirming that air navigation movement remained uninterrupted.
Al-Farajat added that the flights of the national carrier "Royal Jordanian" continued to operate normally without interruption towards European and American destinations.
He explained that the limited halt previously occurred was exclusively linked to the countries that made sovereign decisions to close their airspaces, which necessitated the suspension of flights to those destinations temporarily for reasons related to the safety of the airspaces there, and not due to any impediment in the Jordanian airspace.
He continued, "We are now witnessing the reopening of some vital airspaces surrounding the kingdom, particularly the Syrian and Iraqi airspaces. This positive development will directly lead to the resumption of flight operations to airports in those countries, thus reconnecting the region with a comprehensive air transport network."
Al-Farajat indicated that this regional breakthrough has begun to bear fruits for the local aviation sector, reflected in the resumption of many international airlines' flights to Jordanian airports, and a noticeable increase in the number of international flights crossing Jordanian airspace thanks to the stability of the situations and the opening of adjacent air routes.
He pointed out that reducing the travel time for flights heading east and north reduces the operational costs for airlines and encourages an increase in the number of flights.
Al-Farajat confirmed the high readiness of air navigation and the technical competencies to handle the expected increase in transit air movement and arrivals and departures, affirming the kingdom's commitment to providing the highest standards of safety and security for all crossing and using Jordanian airports.
