Trump Announces 50 Tariffs on Any Country Supplying Arms to Iran

Khaberni - American President Donald Trump announced on social media on Wednesday that he will immediately impose a 50% tariff on imports from any country that supplies weapons to Iran without any exceptions, just hours after reaching a two-week ceasefire with Tehran.

Trump did not specify in his post on his Truth Social platform the legal basis he would rely on to impose these tariffs after the U.S. Supreme Court in February invalidated his use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose broad global tariffs, leading a lower court to issue an order to refund approximately 166 billion dollars the United States had collected from these tariffs over a year.

Trump wrote: "Immediate tariffs of 50% will be imposed on all and any goods sold to the United States by any country that supplies Iran with combat weapons, and this decision takes immediate effect without any exceptions or exemptions! President Donald Trump."

Trump did not specify which countries might be subject to punitive tariffs. China and Russia have helped Iran build its military capabilities to counter U.S. and Israeli pressure by supplying it with missiles, air defense systems, and technology to enhance deterrence.

However, this support appeared limited during the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran. Recently, Russia and China have denied supplying Tehran with any weapons despite ongoing accusations from Moscow.
