Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II welcomed, on Wednesday, the announcement of reaching a ceasefire between the United States and Iran as a positive step to stop the escalation in the region.
His Majesty emphasized during a meeting with a number of prime ministers and former officials, focusing on the major regional developments and the measures taken by state agencies to deal with the consequences of the war, Jordan's support for the efforts made by Pakistan to reach a permanent agreement that addresses all issues that have led to the upheaval of security and stability in the region.
His Majesty stressed during the meeting, which was held at the Al Husseiniya Palace in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, the necessity of opening the Strait of Hormuz, and ensuring the freedom of international navigation in accordance with international law.
His Majesty pointed out that Israel has once again exploited the conditions of the region to expand the conflict, emphasizing that Jordan continues to remind the international community of the need to focus on the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.
His Majesty warned of the dangers of developments in the West Bank and Jerusalem, emphasizing the importance of launching an international effort to stop the Israeli plans to annex parts of the West Bank or to change the existing historical and legal status in Jerusalem and the holy sites.
His Majesty also emphasized the necessity of stopping the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, and supporting the efforts of the Lebanese government to maintain the security, stability, and sovereignty of Lebanon.
